Happy Birthday, Grandma!

This is a card that I made for my grandmother for her birthday. My grandmother has a thing for hummingbirds and flowers. After my dad died in 2002, this one little hummingbird started flitting around outside her window. He has some kind of special marking and she swears she can identify him. She believes that my dad sent this bird to keep an eye on her, which gives her some measure of peace (as much as you can have after a devastating loss like that, I guess). Since then, she's all about the hummingbirds. As usual, I digress. I found this pin/pendant at the craft store and decided to incorporate it into her birthday card. If you pull the pearl-topped hat pin out of the bow, the hummingbird becomes detached from the card so she can wear it. I had a lot of fun making this card. Would you believe that the four open pink roses and the pearl sprigs are from the dollar store? The middle flower is a prima and the tiny rosebuds are from Wild Orchid crafts. I hope she likes it!

OMGosh Gina, your card is so elegantly beautiful. I love the story behind this card. That hummingbird pin is very pretty and your grandma will cherish it and wear it with pride in you for thinking of her in such a fond way. I love how you pinned it to the ribbon. You are a very thoughtful, caring person. Hugs, Cami
